Danny Baker slammed by fans after calling for Gareth Southgate to be sacked

Danny Baker has been slammed by England fans after posting an angry Twitter rant calling for manager Gareth Southgate to be sacked.

The outspoken radio DJ took aim at boss Gareth following England’s heartbreaking Euro 2020 final penalty-shootout defeat to Italy last night.

After a cruel loss at Wembley, an unhappy Baker blasted: “Why is no pundit saying: ‘Gareth Southgate f**ked that right up tonight’?

“Because he did. When we won he was given all the credit.

"Gareth, you have bumbled through to this final, with a team who have never really convinced, and have now f**ked up, how do you see your time with them?"

“England were no good tonight,” criticised Danny. “Just no good tonight.

He rapped: “BBC currently making out the games of the England team is some sort of X Factor feels story F**k off. We f**ked it up.

“’It’s down to me’ says useless Gareth Southgate. Jog on then mate would you?

“F**king useless management by Gareth Southgate tonight. That early goal seems to be a freak moment.

“We were not very good in most of this tournament. England were so weak an attacking threat. He decided that.”

Former Radio 5 Live host Danny was famously sacked by the Beeb in May 2019 for his alleged “racist” royal baby tweet

The comedy writer and journalist posted a picture showing a monkey just hours after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry showed off their new baby Archie to the world.

Danny, 64, controversially captioned the tweet: “Royal baby leaves hospital.”

He deleted the post and issued a grovelling apology, but there is seemingly no love lost with his former employers whom he branded the decision to sack him as a “masterclass of pompous faux-gravity”.

“Gareth Southgate getting the expected soft ride from all the pundits,” continued Danny with his rant to is 493,000 Twitter followers.

“It's the old boys club. F**king disgraceful management from a winning position.

“We have been average for SO many games now. More than the few we won. Nobody mentions that though.

“’This young England side...’ How many times have I heard that in my lifetime?

“They always ARE a young side and they go on to do f**k all.

“Gareth Southgate is hardly the messiah by the way. In fact, he f**ked it up big time tonight.

“Italy are the Champions Of Europe! Because they scuffed a goal against a team who had absolutely no idea how to respond against that.”

But Danny’s angry attack on the England boss didn’t go down well with many fans.

“Give it a rest, Dan,” snapped one of Danny’s followers.

“And your contribution to English football had been what?” retorted another.

“I think you’ve had too much Malbec fella,” responded one fan. “This is the only England football team to reach a Euro final, Italy were very good and deserved winners, but I think England have a very good team too.”

Another sarcastic fan replied to one of Danny’s antagonistic strands: “Of course Danny. It makes sense now. They should obviously put you in charge.

“You clearly know more about football than anybody else. With your years of playing and managing experience.”

“Danny, you have bumbled though a 30 year career and done quite well on very little talent,” criticised one fan. “Gareth Southgate is a hero to most normal people.”

“Your relevance isn’t going to be revived by this tragic take,” slammed another fan.
