Broadcaster and one-time BBC radio host Danny Baker has been roasted online after offering his take on England’s Euro 2020 final defeat.
The comedy writer, 64, posted a series of tweets after the Three Lions lost out on the trophy to Italy following a gut-wrenching penalty shoot-out.
He branded Gareth Southgate’s strategy for the game “f***ing useless” and told the manager to “jog on” in the wake of the shattering loss.
"Its down to me" says useless Gareth Southgate.

Jog on then mate would you?
His tirade ended: “England were no good tonight. Just no good.”
And Twitter wasn’t impressed.
The 64-year-old was swiftly torn apart by fellow users of the platform, who branded him “out of touch” and “spectacularly miserable”.
Here’s a look at what they had to say:
Yes, let's boot out an England Manager that's got us to a Semi-Final and a Final. The first final for 55 years. And replace him with...Danny Baker? https://t.co/sXCrmF3bGe

Whatever you do, don't grow up to be as miserable and jaded as Danny Baker pic.twitter.com/o7tciMfa3f

And this mindset is why Danny Baker is no longer a significant voice in popular culture, you have lost touch, you are out of touch and this is coming from somebody that enjoyed your views in the past. Time has caught up on your view of the world Danny - you are no longer relevant

Getting to the final and taking a team who've been unbeaten for three years to penalties? I mean, I'm not big on football, but that seems pretty good to me.

I wasn’t going to reply to your tweet but l read all the rest of them. What a judgemental person you are. I used to like you but so disappointed and ashamed of your posts, especially after the year the country has had, the lads did England proud 🏴

Man who got England further in Euro tournament than it's ever been in history gets told off by flabby rent-a-gob who got sacked from his job by making horrible racist jokes about a baby. https://t.co/JwJkwohFOf

It’s not the first time Baker has sparked controversy with his social media musings.
In May 2019, he was sacked by the BBC for tweeting an image of a well-dressed man and woman holding hands with a suited chimpanzee, which he captioned: “Royal baby leaves hospital” following the arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son.
Baker had hosted his Saturday programme on BBC Radio 5 Live since 2008.
His controversial tweet came on the same day Harry and Meghan, whose mother is African American, posed with their new arrival, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
Following a backlash and accusations of racism, he deleted the post and apologised.
He later called the day of the sacking “one of the worst days of my life”, but blasted his bosses for their handling of the controversy, saying he was trying to make a point about class.
The BBC called Baker’s tweet a “serious error of judgment”.
