Danny Baker fumes 'f*** 'em!' after BBC sacks him by PHONE over 'racist' royal tweet

Axed BBC Radio 5Live presenter Danny Baker has angrily hit back after being sacked by the BBC over a 'racist' royal baby tweet, declaring "f*** 'em."

The 61-year-old has accused the 'pompous' broadcaster of throwing 'me under the bus' over the image he shared of a posh couple holding hands with a chimpanzee dressed in nice clothes and the caption, "Royal Baby leaves hospital".

He deleted the tweet and denied it was a reference to new mum Meghan's mixed race heritage.

However, a BBC spokesperson branded the post a "serious error of judgement", and Danny claims he was dismissed in a terse phone call.

"The call to fire me from bbc5live was a masterclass of pompous faux-gravity," he tweeted this morning.

"Took a tone that said I actually meant that ridiculous tweet and the BBC must uphold blah blah blah. Literally threw me under the bus. Could hear the suits knees knocking. #F***em."

Defending the image, Baker - who presented a weekend show on 5Live - denied meaning to offend Prince Harry , his wife, or their newborn Archie.

"Would have used same stupid pic for any other Royal birth or Boris Johnson kid or even one of my own. It's a funny image. (Though not of course in that context.) Enormous mistake, for sure. Grotesque. Anyway, here's to ya Archie, Sorry mate," he said.

And responding to the initial backlash, he insisted it was a play on Archie's wealthy background, and not his race.

"Sorry my gag pic of the little fella in the posh outfit has whipped some up. Never occurred to me because, well, mind not diseased," he said.

"Soon as those good enough to point out its possible connotations got in touch, down it came. And that's it."

However, the BBC said the image, "goes against the values we as a station aim to embody."

"Danny's a brilliant broadcaster but will no longer be presenting a weekly show with us," a spokesperson said.
