Danny Baker and 4 other celebrities who got sacked for controversial tweets

Over the past few years, there have been several instances where celebrities have been fired for essentially pushing a button.

The latest case occurred on Thursday morning (9 May) when 5 Live host Danny Baker was fired by the BBC for a "racist" tweet he sent about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's new baby.

After receiving backlash from disgusted Twitter users, Baker deleted the post and commented: “Sorry my gag pic of the little fella in the posh outfit has whipped some up. Never occurred to me because, well, mind not diseased."

The BBC responded swiftly. Less than 24 hours after he first sent the tweet, Baker was fired.

A spokesperson said; “This was a serious error of judgment and goes against the values we as a station aim to embody. Danny’s a brilliant broadcaster but will no longer be presenting a weekly show with us.”

In the wake of this news, below are five other celebrities who have found themselves fired for inappropriate tweets they've sent.

The royal baby – whose name is Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor – was born on Monday 6 May before making his first public appearance at Windsor Castle two days later.
