Dannii Minogue defends posing nude for Playboy while suggesting her 12-year-old son has probably seen it

Dannii Minogue has defended posing naked for Playboy 25 years ago, saying it was all on her terms and calling it a “complete feminist move”.

The singer, now 51, posed in the X-rated magazine back in 1995. The magazine sold out in less than four days and became one of the best-selling Australian editions of all time.

Reflecting on her decision to strip off now, the I Begin To Wonder hit-maker says she has zero regrets, admitting even her 12-year-old son Ethan and his school friends have most likely seen the saucy snaps.

“It was personally empowering to me. I still stand by those photos. I still think it’s awesome,” she told The Guardian.

“My son’s 12, he and his friends are all on their phones, they’ll be Googling, pictures will come up – but I still absolutely 100% stand by that as a complete feminist move.”

She added: “My body, my choice, my space. I controlled everything about the photos, the shoot, everything. And it just made me feel powerful.”

The younger sister of Kylie Minogue has previously admitted that she originally agreed to appear in Playboy as she was left “broke” after her second album flopped and they made her an offer she couldn’t refuse.

Back in 2009, Dannii opened up to Piers Morgan about how dire her financial situation had been and that she hadn’t wanted to ask her famous sibling for help.

“Kylie knew why I was doing it. I could have asked her for the money, but it wasn’t in my nature,” she said.

She continued: “I never wanted to admit the trouble I was in. I should have been looking at my finances.”
