Danniella Westbrook's rumoured Emmerdale role sparks strong reaction from fans

Emmerdale fans have been up in arms after Danniella Westbrook revealed she would love a part in the ITV soap since she has now moved to the countryside.

Some cruel viewers even claimed they would "switch off" if Danniella, famed for playing Sam Mitchell on EastEnders, arrived on the Dales.

She had previously said in an interview: "I love EastEnders, I love Sam, but my dream is Emmerdale.

"I’d love to be in Emmerdale, I’m a country girl. You can see where I live – I ride horses," ," she told The Sun.

"One of my school friends Kevin Mathurin, is now in Emmerdale, playing the vicar."

But some die-hard Emmerdale viewers blasted her for her remarks, as one tweeted: "Hell no. If she gets into Emmerdale I will certainly be switching off."

Another wrote: "No, that’s all I have to say about that without being rude."

"No thanks, Emerdale is ok as it is," added a third, as a fourth wrote: "She’d be like a fish out of water. I don’t think there’s a need for a vote."

Danniella was last seen on EastEnders in 2016, and she also played Trudy Ryan on Hollyoaks in 2013.

Her friend Kevin plays new vicar Charles Anderson on the soap - and perhaps he will put a good word in for his pal Danniella.

The much-loved actress also revealed she has always loved horse riding, and is currently in the market to buy a new horse as she enjoys her new countryside life.

She recently said her move was to "feed her soul" after she managed to beat a cocaine addiction and endured a public spat with her ex-boyfriend Brian Harvey.

"Life’s good, soul will be fed and spiritually topped up in no time," she told fans.

The soap star also recently shared a video after a morning jog, telling fans: “Still smashing the running and herbal life.

“I have dealt with my demons and I’m out and living.”

The star's rep told The Mirror: "Danniella has always enjoyed the country side, which is why she’s back permanently as it’s what’s best to continue on the road of recovery.

"The welsh have gave her a warm welcome and she’s happy there. As they say a little bit of country life if good for the soul."
