Danish FA and UEFA confirm Christian Eriksen is awake, stabilised and undergoing 'further examinations'

The Danish Football Federation have confirmed Christian Eriksen is awake and in a stable condition after collapsing on the pitch during his country's Euro 2020 opener this evening.

The Inter Milan playmaker suddenly fell with nobody around him in the closing stages of Denmark's match with Finland, with traumatic scenes showing the 29-year-old undergoing CPR and extensive emergency treatment from paramedics.

Eriksen was surrounded by shocked and worried team-mates, many of whom formed a shield to provide some privacy as the medical staff continued their work.

Football fans from all over the world flocked to social media to pray for Eriksen's recovery and it seems there's finally some positive news.

The Danish FA have confirmed their player is now 'awake', whilst UEFA posted a tweet stating that Eriksen has now been 'stabilised':

The match was officially postponed by English referee Anthony Taylor, with UEFA confirming there will be an official update at 19:45 this evening.

Eriksen is regarded as one of the most accomplished Danish players of his generation, having cemented his status as one of European football's top midfield players during spells with Ajax, Tottenham and Inter Milan.
