Danilo reveals what his relationship with Pep Guardiola was like at City

Former Manchester City defender Danilo has revealed he didn’t have the best of relationships with manager Pep Guardiola.

Danilo joined from Real Madrid in 2017 and was seen as a versatile fullback given his ability to play on both the left and right.

But after only 60 appearances across all competitions, the Brazilian was sent to Juventus in a part-exchange for Joao Cancelo.

Speaking about his experience with the tactician, the 30-year-old has claimed that it wasn’t easy to get along with Guardiola.

“It's true it's not easy to have a good relationship with him [Guardiola],” he told the Daily Mail, via Repubblica.

“He is never relaxed, he thinks about football all the time. I think at home, in the evening, he puts his wife on the couch as if she were a player on the pitch.”

However, Danilo did say that his time in Manchester under Guardiola changed the way he saw the game.

“I’ve been lucky, they [Guardiola, Massimilano Allegri and Zinedine Zidane] are different, but they are all winners. I have tried to learn from everyone. It was with Guardiola that I changed my way of seeing things, I didn’t play much also because of an injury.”

Danilo was part of the City squad which romped to the Premier League title in his debut season, amassing 100 points.
