The 26-year-old resultantly got the nod for his side against Panathinaikos last week and bagged at the weekend in a 2-2 friendly stalemate with Middlesbrough.
"I think from when the season was over, I got it in my head that I would go back to Brazil and stay around my family," Danilo recently told Sky Sports.
"From there on, I had all the support I needed to start everything fresh. And then I also started to work, and I think everyone could see how much I wanted to impact my fitness and my condition.
"What we have in Brazil, it's special, the sand and everything. The Brazilian vibe is also really good to start everything fresh so that when I came here, I'd be with a totally different mindset. So that's what helped me a lot."
Rangers take on Panathinaikos in the return leg of their second-round Champions League qualifier tomorrow evening in Athens.
Danilo will be keen to get his competitive account up and running for the season.
