Danielle Lloyd broke down in tears when doctors said she was having a fifth boy

Danielle Lloyd's 'heart sank' when she was told she was having a fifth boy.

The ex-model, 38, was given the news last year after she took a blood test six weeks into her pregnancy.

The former Miss England was already mum to Archie, 11, Harry, ten, and George, eight, who she shares with Jamie O’Hara; and four-year-old Ronnie with second husband Michael O'Neill.

However Danielle says she was so desperate for her girl she considered gender selection.

Speaking about her reaction to the test she admits: “I cried. I was devastated and didn’t know what to do with myself.

“We’d said this baby would be our last, so I was thinking, ‘It isn’t going to be my last — we’re going to have to have gender selection after all’", reports The Sun.

The practice of gender selection in which embryos of the chosen sex are implanted in the uterus — is illegal in this country unless performed for medical reasons.

However Danielle and Michael chose to have the treatment in Dubai - before the pandemic put paid to their plans.

Their plans stalled, the couple decided to try for a girl and much to their delight little Autumn Rose was born in November.

Danielle explains the couple used the babydust method, which is said to let a couple effectively decide the baby's gender by scheduling sex around ovulation.

The Scouser said she hoped the early test indicating a boy would be wrong and when she got the news she was expecting a girl, she "cried all the way home".

The former Celebrity Big Brother contestant admitted that people are still convinced she had gender selection, but states the babydust method has "worked for a lot of people".

Speaking about her desire to have a girl, Danielle admitted she'd got abuse from a lot of people.

She pointed out: “Me wanting a girl doesn’t mean I’m ungrateful for what I have or that I love my boys any less.

"So many people have messaged me to say they’ve got all the same sex and are desperate for one of the other, but are too scared to admit it.”

As to whether the couple will add a sixth member to the mix, Dannielle admitted it was unlikely.

Despite being in the "baby bubble" after Autumn was born she joked she "didn't want to be doing the school run forever."
