Danielle Armstrong forced to give birth alone in gruelling 72-hour labour

Danielle Armstrong has shared her gruelling labour story after welcoming baby daughter Orla into the world in May.

The 32-year-old former TOWIE star has opened up on her painful 72-hour labour, where fiancé Tom Edney was by her side documenting the whole journey.

The first-time parents have put together a heartfelt YouTube video diary of Orla's birth, and Danielle shared all the intimate details.

In the first highly requested video titled Welcome to the world Orla Mae Edney - My Labour Story - Danielle cradled her baby on her knee, with Tom sitting beside her.

Their little bundle of joy was dressed in a cute frilly cream romper and was fast asleep in her mum's arms.

The mum-of-one revealed she was 12 days over her due date of May 14, with Orla arriving on May 26.

She was born at 4.30pm weighing 8lbs 11oz after a 72-hour labour at Broomsfield Hospital in Chelmsford.

Brave Danielle admitted she was in hospital by herself due to the coronavirus.

"Because of coronavirus, Tom couldn't be with me so I was in hospital on my own," she explained.

Danielle is seen beaming with happiness in the clip, as she announces Orla Mae had arrived.

She said to the camera: "This is baby Orla Mae Edney. Her name is Orla and her middle name is Mae but a lot of people think it is Orla-Mae, don't they?"

Her proud fiancé admitted "everyone does" as the couple took inspiration for their daughter's name after Strictly Come Dancing star Ola Jordan.

The reality star revealed before she gave birth she'd tried "every old wives tale" in a bid to make her baby come quicker, but nothing worked.

"I did everything. We had curry, spicy curry - we had two of those. We had pineapple - apparently, if you eat the core of pineapple and a lot of it that can bring on labour," she revealed.

"Walks - lots of walks. I mean it was nice to get out but I was so out of breathe wasn't I?" she said to Tom.

The star also opened up about when her waters broke, and how she thought she'd "wet herself".

"Yeah we went for a walk Saturday afternoon and she jumped in the car like, 'my waters have broke', and made me touch the leggings and they were damp," Tom shared.

"I was like, 'Yeah the waters have broke,' but no the waters hadn't broke. It was definitely wee."

The overwhelmed star praised the staff at Broomfield Hospital for their help with the delivery.

In the eye-opening video, Tom can be heard saying, "Yes Danielle, she's here," as baby Orla was placed on her mum's chest.

Speaking about the special moment, Danielle said: "All I remember is her eyes so open. Like I thought she was going to be like her eyes shut but her eyes were just staring - she looked straight at me."

Orla is now just over one month old, and Danielle and Tom are adjusting to parenthood very well.
