Daniel Sturridge explains why Man City star Raheem Sterling gets under valued

Former Manchester City striker Daniel Sturridge has claimed that England winger Raheem Sterling doesn't get the necessary credit he deserves.

The former team-mate of Sterling had nothing but praise the England international as he was interviewed by Sky Sports about the City star's England impact this summer.

Sterling has scored three goals for the Three Lions in four Euro 2020 appearances this summer, helping Gareth Southgate's side reach the tournament's quarter-finals.

When asked if he thought Sterling was one of the world's best players, Sturridge replied: "For me yes, absolutely, and I don't think it's being spoken about enough to be honest. People forget how good he has been over the past three or four seasons, maybe even longer than that."

Sterling is currently away with England as they prepare to face Ukraine in their crunch Euro 2020 quarter-final on Saturday in Rome.

So far Sterling has been one of the standout players at the tournament.

Sturridge added more praise for the City winger. He said: "He's really shown his growth and maturity in how he's playing the game; he's working hard and it shows because tactically and positionally he has been brilliant.

"Scoring goals as well, something that many people thought he couldn't do.

"He is doing everything that is asked of him on and off the pitch, holding himself in the correct manner off the pitch which is important as well.

"I've been blown away with how he's been playing and I've text him a few times to congratulate him.

"He's one of my brothers, I've known that guy a very long time now and I'm so happy for him and his family for what he's achieving right now.
