Daniel Sturridge at centre of battle between Trabzonspor and Monaco to snap him up

Daniel Sturridge is at the centre of a tug of war between Turkish club Trabzonspor and French outfit Monaco, who have made a last-ditch bid for his services.

The former England striker has been without a club since he was released by Liverpool when his contract ran out at the end of June.

Sturridge, 29, who scored eight times in 26 games for England, has been cleared to resume playing again following an FA ban for breaching betting regulations.

He is keen to sort out his future and his representatives are due in Turkey this weekend to discuss an improved contract offer from Trabzonspor.

But Monaco are ready to make a late offer to lure him to the South of France if they lose former Chelsea and Manchester United hitman Radamel Falcao.

Falcao is a target for Galatasaray and is weighing up an offer.

If he decides to accept, Monaco have Sturridge at the top of their wanted list.

But the former Three Lions forward wants to decide on his future quickly, which doesn’t give Monaco much time.
