Daniel Stendel hopes a deal can be struck over reconstruction to keep Hearts in the top flight and will discuss his future with Ann Budge once a decision has been reached.
The owner was on a conference call with the nine other Championship clubs this morning before she was expected to circulate her latest reconstruction proposal to all 42 SPFL clubs this afternoon.
Stendel has a break clause in his contract should the Jambos find themselves in the second tier next season, which allows him to leave just six months after arriving in Edinburgh.
Given the financial impact of relegation, it could be an option that suits both manager and club.
But the German, currently back home in Hanover, is hopeful an agreement can be reached that keeps the Tynecastle club in Scottish football’s top tier.
“I hope we can find a solution with the league, with Ann, with me, that we can do it again.,” he told Hearts TV.
“I hope we find a solution that is the best for Scottish football, the Scottish league, and I hope we get a chance to show it.
“I don’t know much about the Championship but there is a chance to restructure the league because 12 teams is not too much.
“It’s a good chance to try it and a good solution. After one year you can see whether it was the right thing or not.
"In the end, it was only a short time that I could work for Hearts but it was a special time. I like this club, I like the people, I like the supporters. It’s a great experience for me.
“I am a little bit unhappy about our situation but I am convinced we can do it better. I hope we have a chance to play in the Premiership next year.
“At the moment I have no contract in the Championship but we will speak with Ann in the next few days and I can see my path for the situation.”
