CHICAGO _ Carlos Rodon provided the fire and Daniel Palka added the fireworks.
Palka hit a leadoff walk-off home run to break a scoreless tie and give the White Sox a thrilling 1-0 victory Friday night at Guaranteed Rate Field.
Rodon continued to keep batters off balance Friday, feeding off a hot hand he's had since July and matching the longest scoreless outing of his career as he faced the Indians Friday night at Guaranteed Rate Field.
The left-hander struck out five and lowered his ERA to 1.27 since July 1, moving him past Giants starter Dereck Rodriguez for the best ERA in baseball during this span. His eight-inning scoreless effort matched an outing in Cleveland on Sept. 25, 2016.
Rodon gave up four hits and two walks, both of the latter coming in the first inning when the Indians put men on second and third before Rodon quashed the threat by striking out Brandon Guyer.
Yoan Moncada had a moral victory, of sorts. Or perhaps a morale victory is more like it. Moncada, who was dropped to eighth in the batting order for the first time in his Sox career, walked and doubled.
He did strike out, however, bumping his MLB-leading total to 164.
