Daniel O'Donnell tells hilarious story about Packie Bonner on the Late Late Show

Daniel O'Donnell told a hilarious story involving Irish soccer legend Packie Bonner on the Late Late Show on Friday night.

In a special programme celebrating O'Donnell's 60th birthday, Bonner was a guest on the show and was left red in the face after a brilliant tale about the time they were on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?.

The Donegal singer detailed how the question on the gameshow asked him to name list footballers in order of their age.

As O'Donnell began to tell the story, an embarrassed Packie said: "I have to stop you, because this was a set up."

After a roar of laughter from the audience the Irish World Cup hero tried to continue telling his side of the story but host Ryan Tubridy stopped him in his tracks and told him to let "the birthday boy" tell the story.

"When I heard a question about football, I thought well that's the end of me," said Daniel.

"Packie Bonner will know this, it was about the age of some footballers in order and lo and behold if I didn't get right and of course I beat Packie.

"Packie says to me 'I will never be able to go home, you beat me at a football question."

In response to the joking from Daniel, a laughing Packie said: "It had to be a set up can I say, Daniel had to be have been tipped off."
