Daniel O'Donnell reaches out to young Irishman fighting for life after accident in the US

Daniel O’Donnell has reached out to a young Irishman who is fighting for life after an accident in the US.

Country music fan Gary Reynolds, who is originally from Killybegs in Co Donegal, fell out of a pick-up truck in Boston last week.

Gary, 20, hit his head and is in intensive care in hospital after suffering a severe head trauma.

Singing sensation Daniel heard about Gary’s fight for life and sent him a special video message in a bid to help him to recover.

Daniel told Gary “Hi Gary, just a wee message to wish you well.

“I know you are in hospital after having surgery. I hope everything is going well for you and please God you’ll soon be back to full health.

“Hopefully, our paths will cross in the near future. Take care and God bless.”

Gary’s aunt Clare Gillespie said “Gary is a big country music fan so he will be delighted when he sees this.”

Gary's family back in Ireland have set up a GoFundMe page to support Gary's cost which will not be covered by insurance.

And the response from the Irish public has been amazing.

After just two days of setting up the page and setting a €50,000 goal, the campaign has raised more than €80,000 for Gary and his family.

The money will also be used for Gary's medical, rehabilitative and adaptive services.

A spokesperson for Gary's family said "Gary will need months of treatment in America and we are hoping for a full and speedy recovery.

"Thank you so much for your Masses, Prayers, Donations and Support. It is truly appreciated."
