Daniel Levy told perfect next Tottenham manager and it's not Pochettino or Nagelsmann

Michail Antonio has named the perfect candidate to replace Antonio Conte as Tottenham's next head coach. The Italian parted ways with the Lilywhites earlier last month after a fiery rant about the club proved to be the final straw.

Spurs have been linked with various managers recently, such as Mauricio Pochettino, Julian Nagelsmann and Roberto De Zerbi, but they're still yet to make an appointment. Speaking on The Footballer’s Football Podcast, Michail Antonio explained why the North London outfit should go for Brendan Rodgers instead.

The West Ham star outlined the 50-year-old's time at Liverpool as a plausible cause for employment. Antonio said: "I think that would be unbelievable. Spurs like to play football, they like to play tight-knit football.

"They’ve got Harry Kane who drops in, they’ve got Son to hit edges. I swear to you, it would work. It would definitely work. Rodgers took over at Liverpool, he was two points off winning the Premier League.

"He has the nous, he has the qualities to do it. To be fair, he learnt from one of the best, so he was an apprentice for [Jose] Mourinho. I feel it will work, like him going to Spurs will definitely work."

While Rodgers may not be the most attractive name on Tottenham's shortlist, Paul Merson believes that Levy should appoint the Northern Irish boss too. Speaking on Sky Sports, the former Arsenal midfielder said: "I would like to see Brendan Rodgers in at Chelsea... I'm a big Brendan Rodgers fan.

"Unfortunately, things have gone horribly wrong at Leicester. In football, it all comes down to timing, and let's be honest, if Leicester were where Brighton are now, everyone would be calling for Rodgers to go to Chelsea.

"Rodgers ticks every box; he plays on the front foot, he started his coaching career at Chelsea and knows the club. Chelsea fans will question why they should turn to a manager who has just been sacked by Leicester.

"But if you look at the all-round picture, Rodgers is a good manager who has worked at top clubs like Liverpool and Celtic, won trophies at Leicester and put them on the brink of Champions League qualification. I just think Rodgers is the one."
