Daniel Levy slammed over Tottenham head coach search after Antonio Conte rejection

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has been criticised over the collapse of potential deals for Antonio Conte and Mauricio Pochettino by former striker Mido.

Spurs are still searching for their next boss having parted ways with Jose Mourinho in April, and they appear to be back at square one after missing out on Antonio Conte.

Tottenham held positive talks with Conte but the Italian ultimately decided the project in north London was not a convincing one with spending power limited ahead of next season.

And that was after a potential deal for former boss Pochettino had to be dropped after PSG made it clear they would not part ways with the Argentine having only appointed him in January.

But as the search for a head coach rumbles on, Levy has been criticised for his approach with head coaches by former Spurs striker Mido.

"Tottenham fans should know better," he wrote on Twitter.

"Daniel Levy will never bring any manager in who wants full control of the football decisions will never bring in a demanding manager!!

"That’s why he sacked Poch when he started to ask for more players when he started to compare his team to City."

It's an interesting claim from Mido, who made 48 appearances for Spurs across a loan and permanent spell between 2005 and 2007.

Though, it seems Spurs did want to bring in Conte, only to be rejected due to the lack of money the club has to spend on new transfers, a similar reason the Italian left Inter Milan for, despite winning the Serie A title this season.

Tottenham are likely to be limited to spending what they make on departures this summer as the impact from coronavirus is felt, and that could well limit them when it comes to finding a new head coach, especially if they do want to find someone from the top bracket.
