What is clearly different when compared to the appointment of Mourinho is the recency of Conte's success.
Antonio Conte brings a markedly different management style and has won league titles in two different countries in the last four years.
After a split with Inter that was described as "too raw" to return to coaching so soon in the summer, Conte has been rejuvinated by the persuation of Daniel Levy and Fabio Paritici.
Whatever happens in the next 18 months, Spurs have certainly got themselves one of the best managers in world football.
