Daniel Levy has launched a thinly-veiled criticism of Jose Mourinho in his first address to fans since news broke of Harry Kane's intention to leave Tottenham.
The Spurs chief has come under fire from supporters due to the club's Premier League position and the intention to join the controversial European Super League.
It has been a torrid season for Tottenham, who sit sixth in the table but cannot mathematically reach the top four now after Chelsea's win over Leicester on Tuesday night.
With two matches left, rookie manager Ryan Mason has been tasked with getting the club as high up the table as possible with West Ham, Everton, Leeds and even Arsenal vying for their sixth-placed spot.
And to add further fuel to the fire, reports broke that Kane is keen on leaving his boyhood team in the summer transfer window.
With fans set to return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first time this season, Spurs chief Levy has broken his silence and told supporters that after dismissing Mourinho the club can return to their playing style that is attuned to their "DNA".
In the first Tottenham programme of the season, he wrote: “As a Club we have been so focused on delivering the stadium and dealing with the impact of the pandemic, that I feel we lost sight of some key priorities and what’s truly in our DNA."
Levy then turned the attention towards the recruitment process to find a successor to Mourinho, which has not gone according to plan.
Julian Nagelsmann was eyed as the ideal man to fill the hotseat but he agreed to become Bayern Munich's next manager instead, while Brendan Rodgers and Erik ten Hag have expressed no desire to leave Leicester and Ajax respectively.
“We shall focus on the recruitment of a new Head Coach," he added.
"We are acutely aware of the need to select someone whose values reflect those of our great Club and return to playing football with the style for which we are known – free-flowing, attacking and entertaining – whilst continuing to embrace our desire to see young players flourish from our Academy alongside experienced talent.”
