Daniel Levy's stance could see Tottenham miss out on £150m windfall in summer transfer window

Spurs could be set to miss out on a considerable windfall should they not allow Harry Kane to join Manchester City this summer.

The Spurs striker has already expressed his desire to leave the north London club in the near future, with the likes of City, Chelsea and Manchester United all thought to be interested.

Pep Guardiola’s men have reportedly been the first to express their intent to sign him by reportedly lodging a £100m bid for his signature.

football.london understands that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has no intention to sell this summer so has rejected the offer out of hand.

Whilst that could be more beneficial for Spurs in the short-term, it is reported that Manchester City are willing to wait a further year in order to do a deal.

That information comes from ESPN, who suggest that should they fail to bring him to the Etihad Stadium this time around, they will renew their interest after the 2021/22 campaign.

This could thus see Spurs miss out on a considerable amount.

In a year’s time, Kane will only have two years remaining on his contract and would be nearing his 29th birthday.

Whilst that would still put the England captain in his prime years, Spurs would certainly have less bargaining power in relation to his price.

This could therefore see Daniel Levy forced to sell for a much lower fee than his reported £150m asking price that he has slapped onto his star forward this time around.

Meanwhile, should his position not change over a Spurs departure, an extra year with the North London club could see Kane have yet more reason to demand an amicable departure from North London.

Again, this could contribute to his lofty asking price dropping even more and depriving Spurs of a huge windfall.
