Daniel Levy's sale documents explained as Tottenham plot transfer success with £12m deal

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur digest for Friday, August 28.

Truth behind document claims

A document claiming to be an indication that Spurs are up for sale is doing the rounds on social media.

The emailed takeover document is titled Project London and labelled as 'strictly confidential'.

While the club in question in the documents are never named, there are enough obvious clues to suggest it is Spurs.

Transfer strategy can spark Spurs success

Tottenham Hotspur have the chance to make a real statement at the start of the 2020/21 Premier League season.

With fixtures against Everton, Southampton, Newcastle United, West Ham United, Burnley, Brighton & Hove Albion and West Brom in their opening eight matches, Spurs face just one game against last year's top six early on, against Manchester United.

Spurs have already sealed deals for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Joe Hart and are close to signing Matt Doherty.

This transfer approach of targeting players with Premier League experience could well spark more success for Spurs this season.

As other clubs sign players from abroad, who need to adapt to the Premier League, Spurs are buying proven quality.

Doherty and phase two of Spurs' approach

Spurs' transfer approach this summer is a marked contrast to last season and the expected signing of Matt Doherty only highlights that.

Fans were surprised that Spurs were willing to sign a player who turns 29 in January, particularly after a period of signing young players to develop.

Yet that appears to have been phase one of Spurs' transfer plans, with phase two - and the arrival of more experienced players to help rebuild the spine of the club - now set to begin.

It fits more naturally with Jose Mourinho's own transfer profile of signing players of any age for the here and now.
