Daniel Levy's five dilemmas at Tottenham next summer beyond Alderweireld, Eriksen and Vertonghen

The contract situation regarding Toby Alderweireld, Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen at Spurs is well documented.

The trio are now in the final year of their deals at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and will be able to leave on free transfers come the start of July.

Spurs have a decision to make over the players sooner rather than later as they simply cannot afford to let them go for absolutely nothing come the summer.

While everyone connected with the club will be hoping that the trio can pen new terms in north London in the not too distant future, it is a situation that looks like it will crop up this time next year.

Here we take a look at the five players who will be in the same boat as Alderweireld, Eriksen and Vertonghen in 12 months' time:

Eric Dier

We are still yet to see the 27-year-old in action this season after he missed out on the squad against Arsenal through injury.

The versatile player has had a year to forget with a combination of injury and illness limiting him to only 11 appearances for the Lilywhites since the start of 2019.

That has seen him fall down the pecking order at the club and he does face a huge fight to get back in the starting XI either in defence or midfield.

Dier's versatility has always proved key to Mauricio Pochettino and the club have a decision to make.

Moussa Sissoko

One player you would think is a major candidate for a new contract is Sissoko.

The Frenchman has been a revelation in N17 since the start of last season following a tough time at the club and he is now one of the first names on the teamsheet.

He has kept his place in the side following Tanguy Ndombele's club-record move from Lyon in July and he will continue to be a big player for the club over the course of the campaign.

Sissoko will be 31 at the start of the 2020/21 season and that may be mean he isn't offered a long-term deal if indeed he's offered one at all.

Danny Rose

The left-back still remains in the capital even though he looked like he would be on the move ahead of the season.

Rose was absent from the pre-season tour of Asia as he was given time to explore other opportunities away from Spurs, yet nothing came up and he stayed at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, things could be a lot different come the end of the season following Ryan Sessegnon's move from Spurs on deadline day.

Whereas you would expect Sissoko to be offered new terms, Rose, on the other hand, could be allowed to depart with Sessegnon seen as the club's future left-back.

Victor Wanyama

Now this one depends on what exactly happens with the midfielder over the coming hours as the European transfer deadline is almost upon us.

Wanayama has had an injury nightmare over the past two seasons and that has seen him slip way down the pecking order at Spurs and a move away to get his career back on track appears likely to happen.

Looking set to complete a move to Club Brugge last week, the Kenyan is still in north London with the clock ticking down until the transfer deadline.

If he remains at Tottenham come next summer, and that is a big if, he will be in the final year of his deal and able to leave for nothing in 2021.

Oliver Skipp

The youngster is one player that has profited from Wanyama's injury woes over the past 12 months since making his Spurs debut.

Skipp has two appearances to his name already this season and he does look on course to play more than the 12 times he featured for the Lilywhites last term.

Pochettino will want to tie him down to a new long-term contract if he continues to impress over the next year.
