Daniel Levy's brutal Juande Ramos sacking and rapid Harry Redknapp hire recalled in new interview

Former Tottenham forward Darren Bent has opened up on how Daniel Levy brutally sacked Juande Ramos and appointed Harry Redknapp.

Although the Spaniard won the League Cup in his first season in charge at White Hart Lane, that wasn’t enough to prevent him from getting the axe a day before the year anniversary of his appointment.

Spurs endured their worst ever start to a Premier League season after their Carling Cup triumph over Chelsea, with Levy deciding enough was and bringing in Harry Redknapp to replace Ramos just three months into the season.

The move certainly raised plenty of eyebrows in the world of football, and Bent has now recalled the ruthless way in which Levy sacked Ramos and replaced him with Redknapp.

“When I was at Spurs we had Juande Ramos as the manager,” he told talkSPORT.

“He got sacked in the evening of a game, and the chairman came in and said: ‘By the way, we’ve sacked Juande Ramos.’

“The next thing we knew Harry Redknapp strolled in and said: ‘Hi Guys, you alright?’

“Out of nowhere we were sitting in this room and he just strolled in – it was the most bizarre thing.”

“It was literally 30 seconds after – we didn’t even see Ramos leave, but we saw Harry come in!”
