Daniel Levy gives update for Tottenham fans on Spurs' manager search amid Paulo Fonseca links

Daniel Levy has insisted that Tottenham have not even spoken to some of the managers they have been linked with as the club's hunt for Jose Mourinho's successor continues.

Mourinho was sacked as Spurs manager in April after enduring a tough campaign both domestically and in Europe.

The Portuguese coach was knocked out of the Europa League by Dinamo Zagreb in the round of 16, despite a 2-0 lead in the first leg, followed by losses to Arsenal and Manchester United in the league.

This resulted in his dismissal the week before the EFL Cup final against Manchester City, in which Spurs eventually lost 1-0 courtesy of a late Aymeric Laporte header.

The north London side ultimately ended the season in seventh place, enough to earn them a place in next season's Europa Conference League, but fast forward almost a month since the final day of the season and they are still yet to appoint a coach.

Spurs have recently been linked to former Roma boss Paulo Fonseca. having also been linked with Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte, but Daniel Levy has urged fans to be patient as the wait continues.

"What's been interesting is that I must have had about 30 different names from fans," he told the club's website.

"Some of the individuals that have been mentioned in the media that have apparently rejected us, we haven't even spoken to.

"I don't want to comment on any one individual. Lots of things get reported. All I will say is until we make something official, that's the only thing the fans ought to believe in."

Meanwhile, he has insisted that Tottenham will spend this summer as they look to try and improve on a seventh-placed finish in the Premier League in 2020-21.

"We will spend, but we are a self-sustaining club. We have to be sensible, we have had circumstances where the coach doesn't want us to spend on an actual player. We will make investments into the squad."
