Daniel Kueblboek: German pop star missing after 'falling overboard from cruise ship' off coast of Canada

AP

German pop star Daniel Kueblboeck has gone missing off the coast of Canada after going overboard from a cruise ship.

Aida Cruises told The Associated Press that Kuelblboeck went overboard from the cruise ship AIDAluna early on Sunday. The ship was stopped and returned to the spot off the coast of Newfoundland where the 33-year-old was thought to have entered the water.

Kuelblboeck rose to fame in late 2002, thanks to his participation in the first season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar (DSDS); he finished in third place.

He later appeared on Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hierraus! (the German version of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!), the German iteration of Big Brother, and its version of Let's Dance.

Aida Cruises has said an "intensive search" is underway in cooperation with Canada's coast guard.
