Daniel Kinahan dumped by Bahrain sports company KHK amid fallout from Fury v Joshua announcement

A sports company in the Middle East has cut its ties with Daniel Kinahan.

KHK Sports, which is run by Bahrain royal family member Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, said Kinahan is no longer an "advisor" to the company.

The statement was confirmed by Bahrain's Government information service.

KHK describes itself as the "fastest-growing sports media project in the Gulf Cooperation Council" and a company that is renowned for its "deep rooted principles in the sports industry".

A statement said: "KHK is a global sports media property dedicated to the development of sports from the grass-root level.

"KHK Sports confirms it has discontinued its engagement with Daniel Kinahan and he is no longer an advisor to KHK Sports."

The announcement comes amid the fallout which followed Tyson Fury revealing Kinahan had played a major role in securing a two-fight deal with fellow British boxing champion Anthony Joshua.

Kinahan was previously identified in the High Court, Dublin as a senior figure in organised crime.

Last week, Kinahan was called out on the floor of the Dáil as a crime cartel boss who is trying to "re-brand himself as a boxing promoter".

Labour Party leader Alan Kelly called on the Taoiseach to “intervene” after gangland chief Mr Kinahan was lauded as a successful international boxing promoter.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar in reply told Mr Kelly that he has been in touch with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities to warn them about the promoter’s dodgy past.
