Daniel Jones will work out at Duke this summer, but will Eli Manning join him?

With the New York Giants set to have a break before the start of training camp on July 24, rookie quarterback Daniel Jones intends to keep working throughout the summer.

Jones has been making strides this spring and is impressing coaches along the way.

The 22-year-old has been picking up the offense quickly and is, day-by-day, disproving a few of the narratives surrounding him, such as the idea that he doesn’t have arm strength and lacks accuracy on his deep balls.

Despite his turning heads, Jones is not resting on his laurels and instead plans on taking the time off from the team to work more. Today, Jones told the media he intended on going to Duke to train prior to the start of training camp.

It’ll be interesting to see if Jones and his predecessor, Eli Manning, will be together at Duke. Manning, who was mentored by current Duke head coach David Cutcliffe while he was at Mississippi, has been known to spend his summers working with his old collegiate head coach.

Things are heating up quickly for Jones. He has been receiving mostly positive reviews as the spring has gone along, and some even have Jones competing for the starting job with Manning. That’s a far cry from the opinions of Jones that came out when the Giants drafted him at No. 6 overall in April.

Jones is saying and doing all the right things. Having a rookie with the kind of work ethic Jones displays is a positive sign for the future of Big Blue’s quarterback situation, whether that future comes this year or next.
