Daniel Johns announces new album coming April 1

New music: The cover of FutureNever, Daniel Johns' new album set for release on April 1.

In the tailwind of his hit podcast, Daniel Johns has announced the release of a new album, FutureNever, on April 1.

"This time I'm doing things on my own terms, FutureNever will be the first album I release on my own label via a new global deal with my friends at BMG," Johns said in a press release today.

Daniel recently released the Spotify Original podcast Who Is Daniel Johns? an in-depth, documentary-style podcast that - or the first time ever - shares an unfiltered version of Johns' life and career.

Narrated by Golden Globe nominee Guy Pearce, the podcast features a myriad of celebrities and musicians that have all played crucial roles in his life - Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins), Tom DeLonge (Blink 182, Angels & Airwaves), Kevin Parker (Tame Impala), long-time collaborator Van Dyke Parks and ex-wife and close friend Natalie Imbruglia.

"The experience of the podcast has helped me make peace with my past and I'm ready to tackle this new world bravely," Johns said.

As always, it be uniquely done in Johns' own way.

"I won't be leading in with singles, the album is designed to be enjoyed as an album. Call me a hopeless romantic but that's the benefit of releasing music on your own label. Nobody can tell you what to do," he said.

"FutureNever is an eclectic mix of music that I've made over the last couple of years. A few of my friends will be jumping on the record, I'll be slowly revealing them in the lead up to the album."

Look for details online at FutureNever.art, which Johns calls "an evolving, interactive platform".

"I have a lot of surprises planned," he said. "I'm ready to have fun with this and I'm excited to do this together with you."

His final words on the press release: "I know I have a tendency to go missing - but I'm back now."
