Daniel Jeremiah thinks Devin White could be a good fit for Broncos

Could the Broncos select linebackers in the first round of the draft in back-to-back years?

After selecting outside linebacker Bradley Chubb fifth overall in last year’s draft, Denver could use more depth at inside linebacker this year. One of the best inside linebackers in this year’s class is LSU’s Devin White.

Georgia’s Roquan Smith was the best inside linebacker in last year’s class and the Bears picked him eighth overall. Vic Fangio, who was Chicago’s defensive coordinator last year, is now the Broncos’ head coach.

Speaking on a conference call with reporters Monday, NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah said he could see White filling the role in Denver’s defense that Smith had with the Bears in 2018.

“He’s going to be able to run and cover and help match up against some of the better tight ends and even some of these backs how they’re using the passing game,” Jeremiah said of White.

“That’s a huge asset. And then Vic has a way — he can cut him loose as a blitzer, too, and he’s outstanding, not only kind of blitzing inside but coming off the edge. He’s got a good feel, he’s got real strong hands.

“So I think he could be — he’d be a big-time difference maker there for the Broncos.”

White recorded 286 tackles — including 28.5 tackles for losses — and 8.5 sacks during his three years with the Tigers. He also broke up nine passes and intercepted one pass.

If available at 10th overall, White would be a great pick for Denver.
