Daniel Jeremiah hints that Broncos may target TE T. J. Hockenson

During a conference call with reporters on Thursday, NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah hinted that he could see the Denver Broncos selecting Iowa tight end T. J. Hockenson with the 10th overall pick.

“To me I know they’ve done a lot of homework on quarterbacks, but I just can’t see them taking a quarterback when they haven’t even seen Joe Flacco take a snap in this offense,” Jeremiah said. “So I would imagine they try and get somebody that can help him out there.

“You take a look along the offensive line and I would not sleep on Hockenson. If Hockenson were to get there to Denver that would not surprise me at all because he’ll help their run game as well as their passing game.”

Hockenson (6-5, 251 pounds) ran a 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds and bench-pressed 225 pounds 17 times at the combine earlier this offseason. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein has compared him to Travis Kelce, who is widely considered one of the best tight ends in the league.

Hockenson is listed as the No. 2 tight end in this year’s class by Draft Wire’s Luke Easterling (view the complete rankings here). He’s ranked behind Noah Fant, his ex-Hawkeye teammate.
