Daniel James told he's Man Utd's best player and 'must regret signing for club'

Daniel James must be thinking 'who have I signed for here?'

That's according to former Arsenal defender Martin Keown, who says the Wales international is Manchester United's youngest but best player.

The Red Devils signed James from Swansea City in the January transfer window, beating rivals Leeds to the young forward.

Manchester United splashed out £18million for his services - a drop in the ocean compared to the £80m spent on Harry Maguire and £55m on Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

It was expected that James would become a squad player at United, and be used sparingly by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season.

But James has hit the ground running at Old Trafford, and is one of the first names on the Norwegian's teamsheet.

Heaping praise on James, Keown said on Match of the Day: "Daniel James must be thinking 'who have I signed for here?' He's their youngest player, but he's their best player."

Manchester United were beaten 1-0 by Newcastle last time out in the Premier League.

Matty Longstaff netted the winner for the Magpies in a match that saw Manchester United record just three shots on target in 90 minutes.
