Daniel James reveals what Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs told him

Dylan Levitt is the only Manchester United representative in the Wales training squad but there could be a second soon if Daniel James completes his move.

The MEN reported James has agreed personal terms with United and the club now has to negotiate a fee with Swansea. The Swans' former manager Graham Potter - who was paraded by new club Brighton on Monday - wanted to take James to the Amex Stadium but has conceded defeat amid the 21-year-old's desire to join United.

James has already benefited from the coaching of one of United's greatest players in Wales manager Ryan Giggs. Giggs gave James his Wales debut in their November friendly defeat in Albania and started the Yorkshire-born forward in the European Championship qualifying win over Slovakia in March.

James lined up in an attack with Liverpool youngster Harry Wilson, David Brooks of Bournemouth and Real Madrid's Gareth Bale and after his full international debut James spoke about the encouragement he received from Giggs and one-time United target Bale.

"It's massive for me to learn off the gaffer and Gareth," James said after his international debut. "They've obviously shown a lot to me and the gaffer said to me before the game 'go and do what you've been doing at Swansea'.

"Gareth just said, 'Keep getting at the full-back' and that's what I did.

"It's massive the way the gaffer has trusted in all of us. It gives us loads of licence, especially going forward.

"Obviously you've got to do the defensive bits, but when we've got the ball in midfield we've got players who can find us in behind."

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is prepared to eschew big-name signings in favour of team-focused additions as part of the United squad's rebuild. Senior sources at the club have already indicated Bale is not a priority amid Real Madrid's determination to sell the Welshman, who turns 30 in July. A United insider said Bale is 'low down on our list'.

James scored six goals in 38 games for Swansea last season and was praised by Pep Guardiola after their narrow FA Cup quarter-final defeat to City.
