Daniel James reveals the role Ryan Giggs played in Manchester United transfer

New Manchester United signing Daniel James has revealed that legend Ryan Giggs played a big role in his dream transfer as he 'obviously mentioned me here.'

James was officially unveiled as a United player on Wednesday following the confirmation that a deal had been agreed with Swansea City for the transfer last week.

The 21-year-old has signed a five-year contract at Old Trafford with an option for a further year.

Yet the rapid winger has revealed that his manager at international level for Wales, United icon Giggs, is a big reason as to why he got the transfer.

"Ryan [Giggs] was a big credit to why I'm here now," James told ManUtd.com.

"He gave me the opportunity in the Slovakia game and that was amazing for me. The trust he has given me and he has watched a few games at Swansea and he is credit to why I'm here now because he obviously mentioned me here. I give a lot back to him from that."

James also spoke about his excitement of playing on the Old Trafford turf, where he once watched United play as a youngster.

"I have actually watched the Barca vs United game in the Champions League and the atmosphere was amazing and I think when I came to watch then I never would have thought I would be playing on the pitch.

"Thinking about it now I can't wait to get out, I'm really looking forward to it to be out there on the pitch, the atmosphere is amazing and the fans are incredible.

"I'm really looking forward to the fixture list coming out, it doesn't matter who you play in the Premier League every game will be hard. But to see the teams I will be playing is surreal for me and I would never have believed that I would be playing against those teams."
