Daniel James reveals the moment playing for Manchester United will sink in

It's now well over a month since Daniel James completed his dream move from Swansea City to Manchester United, but the winger admits it is still yet to fully sink in.

The 21-year-old has featured for United in their pre-season friendlies against Perth Glory, Leeds United and Inter Milan, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side impressing on the pitch in Perth and Singapore.

But with three weeks until the Premier League campaign begins James admits his dramatic change of circumstance won't really hit home until he runs out at Old Trafford for the first time, which is likely to be against Chelsea on the opening weekend of the season.

"I don't think it will sink in until I walk out at Old Trafford," James said. "I'm really enjoying it at the moment, I'm getting to know my teammates still and just enjoying playing.

"It's been really good [in pre-season], we dominated the game [against Inter], it was a lot tougher than our last two games, but we've come out on top."

Teenager Mason Greenwood has stolen the show for United in pre-season so far, but James and his fellow new boy Aaron Wan-Bissaka have also emerged as fan favourites.

James played the first hour against Inter as part of a pacey front three for United and when the campaign kicks off he's aiming to play his part in scoring and supplying goals.

"For me it's to get as many goals and assists as I can," he said of his aims for the season.

"I want to contribute to the team because that will ultimately get me in the team. As a team we've shown what we want to do, we want to work hard, we want to try and get ball, press up high and get goals from there."

James has also spotted similarities between his new manager Solskjaer and his international boss Ryan Giggs, with the winger now up to four caps for Wales.

"I think they've got a similar philosophy, they both played at United together," he said. "They've got the same base in their team, they want to have a high press and get the ball to wingers, but I wouldn't say they're the same."
