Daniel James pictured after Manchester United medical

Daniel James has met up with his Wales team mates at Liverpool Airport having been at Manchester United on Thursday completing a medical ahead of his move, MEN Sport understands.

The Swansea winger is expected to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first signing of the summer and Ryan Giggs gave the Wales international permission to leave the national team's base ahead of his impending move.

MEN Sport understands the Welshman underwent his medical on Thursday and was then taken by United security staff to Liverpool Airport where he met up with the rest of the Wales squad as they flew out to Croatia for Wales's clash with Croatia in the Euro qualifiers.

The Wales team and James arrived separately at Liverpool airport shortly after 2.30pm on Thursday with the winger getting out of a separate car.

Personal terms had already been agreed last month, though the death of James' father Kevan meant United and Wales both gave the player time to grieve. The fee is believed to be in the region of £15million, with add-ons and an announcement could be made in the next few days.

Despite James undergoing his medical on Thursday it is understood an official announcement with signing pictures from United is not expected until next week.

James is set to be United's first signing of the summer as Solskjaer embarks on a rebuild ahead of next season having seen United finish sixth in the last campaign and fail to qualify for the Champions Legue.
