Manchester United winger Daniel James has revealed the four fastest players at Old Trafford and admitted that Juan Mata was one of his idols growing up.
James joined the Reds back in the summer of 2019 from Swansea and immediately linked up with the former Chelsea man Mata in the squad. He scored in his debut against the Blues in a 4-0 win on the opening day of the Premier League season and has since gone on to score nine goals in 72 appearances for the club to date.
The 23-year-old is currently preparing for the opening game of the upcoming season against Leeds United and was answering fan questions in a Q&A for the Manchester United website when he revealed that Mata was one of his idols growing up.
"I've got a few, to be honest. I'd like to say Thierry Henry was a player I always grew up watching. He was unbelievable as soon as he came to the Premier League and he was a great player. And also, a player that I play with now, Juan [Mata] was always an idol of mine growing up and such a professional as well.”
The biggest reveal of the Q&A session however was when James was asked to name his 4x100m relay team from members of the United squad and one name stood out as a surprise to many.
“I think Marcus [Rashford], I think Aaron [Wan-Bissaka] would have to be in there because he's very, very quick. You might not realise sometimes, but he is. I'll put myself in. I like to do the bend, so I'd do the second to last. I'll let Marcus do the last, Aaron to start, so I've got to get a second. Who would go in? [Anthony] Elanga. Very quick. He'll do my second."
