Daniel James missing from Man Utd squad as Leeds United fans start getting excited

Daniel James has been left out of the Manchester United matchday squad to face Brighton, fuelling speculation he could be about to join Leeds United on loan.

James is nowhere to be seen among Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's starting XI or substitutes after being replaced at half time in the opening day defeat against Crystal Palace.

Leeds are said to be keen on securing a loan deal to sign the 22-year-old Welshman. They believe the player would be interested in the move, according to reports.

No official reason has been given for James' omission, but the development sparked a big reaction from fans of both clubs on social media, with Leeds fans excited about what could now happen.

James nearly joined Leeds on transfer deadline day in January 2019 from Swansea only for the Swans to torpedo the deal at the last minute.

He ended up at United after making a £15m move and impressed early on. He made 33 Premier League appearances in his debut campaign at Old Trafford, scoring three goals and contributing six assists.

But Mason Greenwood's emergence has seen him slip down the pecking order, and inconsistent performances have sparked some unfair criticism.
