Daniel James annihilates Man Utd teammates on training return with impressive test results

Daniel James once again proved that he's quickest off the mark at Manchester United by registering the fastest speed on the club's return to training.

With United's players being monitored by GPS analysis firm STATSports, the Manchester Evening News report that the Welshman was clocked at a top speed of 36.8km/h as players were tested on their comeback.

James reportedly finished top of the shots ahead of Axel Tuanzebe, Jesse Lingard and under-18s captain Teden Mengi.

With James' sprints impressive, Lingard is said to have pleased coaches by running the fastest for the longest period of time, with Bruno Fernandes showed improvement in his numbers from pre-lockdown.

Former Swansea winger James recently opened up on how close he came to joining Leeds United last January, and his anger when a deal fell through.

“I got to Elland Road about 6pm, did all the pictures with my shirt, all the interviews, because they wanted it to go out in the morning, and then it was strange," he told the Living The Dream podcast.

"It got to about 9pm and I'd signed all the papers and then it was from club-to-club. I had people texting me saying 'what's happening?' and I literally didn't know.

“It wasn't until 15 minutes to go until I thought: 'this might not happen now'.

"I ended up ringing the chairman [of Swansea, Huw Jenkins] to ask him what's happening. It was all a bit crazy and then it wasn't done - I threw my phone.

“I thought it's not real. The chief exec of Leeds wasn't happy at the time, but then it was just a case of driving home. It was a very weird situation and I think it helped me in some ways."
