Daniel Ek's stance on Arsenal takeover without European football next season

Daniel Ek remains 'committed' to an Arsenal takeover despite the Gunners facing no European football next season.

The Spotify co-founder is keen on buying the club off Stan Kroenke, who owns Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, after supporters urged the owners to step down following the failed European Super League plot.

The Kroenke's are adamant they will not sell the club but Swedish billionaire Ek is prepared to test their resolve with a reported £1.8billion opening bid.

And Sky Sports claims the fact there is no European football for Arsenal next season will have no bearing on his decision to go ahead with the proposed takeover.

Arsenal squandered their last chance to qualify for Europe as they crashed out of the Europa League to Villarreal at the semi-final stage, with Mikel Arteta's currently ninth in the Premier League table.

The report also states that Ek, who is a boyhood Arsenal fan, was waiting until after Thursday night's clash to table his offer so it wasn't a distraction for the side.

His proposal has the backing of Arsenal legends Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira.

And Henry revealed Ek had approached the Kroenke family with a verbal offer as he looks to "reinject the Arsenal DNA" back into the club.

He said: "I think it is going to be long and not easy - if it does ever happen.

"One thing that I want to reiterate is that Daniel will not move away, he will be there waiting to see if they want to sell.

"That is going to take a very long time, we know what we want to do, but first and foremost we need to make sure that we can take over if they are listening."
