Daniel Dubois vs Joe Joyce gets new date of October 24 in front of fans with winner primed for world title shot

The all-London heavyweight showdown between Daniel Dubois and Joe Joyce has been given a new date of Saturday October 24.

Dubois vs Joyce was one of the first major bouts in this country to be shelved due to the outbreak of coronavirus, with its original April 11 date cancelled.

A July 11 date was also pushed back but Frank Warren hopes it will be third time lucky in the autumn when fans could possibly be allowed back into the O2 Arena.

“Everyone wants to see it," Warren said. "Lockdown has meant a delay, but we all want the fight to take place in October and we are hopeful that the government will give us the all clear.

“What a position the winner will be in. They will be nailed on for a world title shot in 2021.”

Greenwich-born Dubois and Putney’s Joyce will meet with the European, WBC Silver and WBO International, British and Commonwealth titles on the line - with the winner also hoping to be thrust into the world title picture alongside Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
