Daniel Craig says farewell to James Bond at No Time To Die premiere

Daniel Craig has bid farewell to James Bond after appearing at the premiere of his last film in the franchise.

The 53-year-old said that the premiere of No Time To Die was a chance to celebrate despite his decision to no longer play the most famous spy in Hollywood.

The actor has played Bond in five movies, after initially taking up the role in 2006 when he played 007 in Casino Royale.

He said: “It’s been a bittersweet couple of years, so one has to keep things in perspective. The decision to leave is still there, I’m just glad that we’ve got a chance to celebrate tonight and have a premiere. That seemed like such a far away thing for a while.”

The star also offered advice to whoever takes up the role in the next film.

He advised them to "just make it your own, be brilliant" and "take it somewhere wonderful".

Producer Barabara Broccoli would not be drawn on she wanted to become the next 007 and said she too wanted to celebrate Craig's time in the role.

She said: “No hunting. Daniel Craig – I want him to be Bond for as long as possible.

“It’s very difficult, he’s been tremendous. I think tonight is about celebrating his achievements, giving him his time. And also celebrating all the real-life heroes we’re acknowledging here tonight, the people that have got us through the pandemic.”

Craig and his co-stars - Lashana Lynch, Rami Malek, and Léa Seydoux - were among the famous faces that attended the world premiere of No Time To Die at the Royal Albert Hall this evening (September 28).

Prince Charles, The Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also attended the event and met with the film's stars before the screening.

They were welcomed by the Lord Lieutenant of Greater London, Sir Kenneth Olisa, and introduced to producers Michael G Wilson and Broccoli.

Rapper Stormzy, tennis star Emma Raducanu and Dame Judi Dench, who played M in the franchise, were also in attendance.
