Daniel Craig says a woman should not be ruled out for the next James Bond

Daniel Craig would welcome a woman replacing him as 007.

The James Bond star is happy for the role to be shaken and stirred up from it macho traditions.

Daniel, 51, says he’ll be hanging up his slimline tuxedo after his fifth Bond movie is released next year.

And after 13 years in the iconic role the actor says it should be open to everyone regardless of gender, race and sexual orientation.

He said: “I think that everybody should be considered. Also for women and for African-Americans, there should be great parts anyway, across the board.”

Bond baddie Rami Malek will be killed off in 'grisliest death' in 007 history

Speaking at the launch of the 25th Bond movie this week, he said the suave secret agent – traditionally a womaniser – will be portrayed with an eye on changing attitudes.

Calls for a female Bond have stepped up in the wake of the Me Too and Times Up movements since Daniel’s last film Spectre in 2015.

Support has come from former Bond girl Madeline Smith, 69. who played Italian agent Miss Caruso opposite Roger Moore in 1973’s Live And Let Die.

She said: “Times have changed. Women play a far greater role now.”

Actresses including Claire Foy, Thandie Newton and Emily Blunt have been touted as potential candidates.
