Daniel Candeias reveals Rangers hopes as he admits he's desperate to stay at Ibrox

Daniel Candeias admits he loves life in Scotland is desperate to stay at Rangers.

The winger played 52 times for the Ibrox side last season in all competitions but was on the bench for the final few weeks of the season after a change in system.

But he’s not considering leaving this summer and has targeted a title win before he leaves the club.

The Portuguese is one of the few successes from Pedro Caixinha’s time in charge and praised supporters for making him feel welcome.

He told Remate Digital: “We improved from last season to this, we had a good campaign in the Europa League. Individually I think  it was another good season without injuries and 52 games. I’m glad I did, we can always do more, but overall I’m happy.

“I always have to do better than the previous season. That’s about winning titles because a club like Rangers lives with it and those fans deserve it for the support they always give. That is my main goal, to help the club.

"At this moment I do not think of going back. I always follow our championship and I want to play again, but not for now. I want to stay abroad for a few years."

The 31-year-old has played for 13 clubs, with the majority of those being loan spells, and Candeias reckons Rangers is the happiest he’s been after finally finding a home in Steven Gerrard's team.

He added: "Yes, it is true, many loans were not what I wanted. Where I had the most stability was in the Nacional de Madeira, that's where I really showed my value and I have now shown that since I have been away. It is a good thing that this is the end of the loans, it does not make sense from the age of 27 to always go on loan. But it passed and now I'm even happier.

"Playing in Spain was fantastic but Turkey and Scotland was where I felt happiest and now playing in the Rangers with those fans is a fantastic thing. What an environment."
