Daniel Candeias reveals Alfredo Morelos' Rangers transfer future and admits he's 'waiting to see him at Porto'

Former Rangers star Daniel Candeias believes the time is now for Alfredo Morelos to end his four-year Ibrox love affair as he revealed chats with the player himself.

The Colombian striker is wanted by Porto with reports in Portugal stating a deal is close for a player who helped secure a first Scottish Premiership title in a decade last season.

Candeias was a team-mate of Morelos for two seasons with the pair remaining close friends even since the winger moved to Turkey before the start of the 2019/20 season.

It comes after a report on Friday stated Porto are ready to offer €12million (£10.3m) with the potential for a further €5m (4.3m) in bonuses for a potential fee of close to £17m.

And now the 33-year-old is convinced El Bufalo should join another former Ibrox pal in Fabio Cardoso at the Estadio Dragao.

Speaking to A Bola, he said: “He loves Rangers and it's a fantastic club, but after four years I think he's done his job. He will always be an idol.

“I think he wants to prove to himself he can now compete and shine at another club.

Porto is ideal for him as there are so many attractions.

“They have direct access to the Champions League and there are the other Colombians in the squad. I think it will also help him play for the national team.

“I see a change in motivation. I've been getting involved with him, telling him that I'm waiting to see him at Porto.”
