Daniel Arzani makes Celtic return from injury hell as Hibs earn point against reserves

Daniel Arzani has made his long-awaited return from injury as Celtic reserves drew 1-1 with Hibs.

The winger, on loan from Manchester City until the end of this season, has been on the sidelines for the past 10 months after suffering a horrific ACL injury on his debut against Dundee last season.

The Aussie came off the bench against the Edinburgh side for the final half hour as he replaced Liam Burt. Arzani had a few long-range efforts, but was unable to mark his comeback with a goal.

Jonathan Afolabi was also able to get some playing time under his belt as the summer signing led the line from the start at Lennoxtown.

The home side had to rescue a point, however, as Hibs were a goal to the good at the break.

Celtic were back on level terms 10 minutes after the restart as Armstrong Oko-Flex equalised from the penalty spot.

There was some disappointing news on the injury front as Calvin Miller hobbled off in the first half.

The Parkhead side are playing in a new cross-border tournament along with Rangers, Aberdeen, Hibs, Huddersfield and Brentford after withdrawing from the SPFL reserve league.

All six clubs will play each other home and away before the top two sides contest a final to decide a winner.

Elsewhere, the Dons thrashed the Terriers 3-0 to kick off the new competition with a resounding victory.
