Daniel Agger made his Anfield return last weekend during the Liverpool Legends game against AC Milan Glorie and has sent supporters a heart-warming thank you message.
The Dane's former team-mate Steven Gerrard popped up with a last minute winner in front of the Kop as the Reds won 3-2 in the charity match.
Agger, who made 232 appearances for Liverpool before returning to his hometown club Brondby, announced his retirement from the sport aged 31.

The 34-year-old found Saturday's return to action emotional and has now thanked Liverpool fans for their support in poignant Instagram post.
The former centre-half shared four pictures from the day and wrote a touching caption: "Another great weekend in Liverpool. Just about recovered everything was for a great cause (LFC foundation) but I think I can speak for all my teammates when I say we also do it a little bit for ourselves.
"Not in a selfish way, but to recreate the feeling of being a footballer. A footballer playing for LFC, with so many great memories in that stadium.(Anfield). Time flies and in the end of the day, memories is all we got.
"I really hope all the fans had a special day. I definitely enjoyed every second of it. Thank you Y.N.W.A"
Agger spent eight years on Merseyside and clearly has a lot love for his former home.
When he retired in 2016, the former Denmark international said: "This isn't something I've done overnight. But time after time when I've thought it through I've thought 'hell no'.
"I'm not letting my level drop, I'm not falling any further, it's important to stop while I'm still ahead."
