Dani Ceballos asked Real Madrid not to sell him before completing his loan move to Arsenal .
Ceballos, 23, joined the Gunners on loan from Real Madrid this summer and has impressed in the first month of the season.
Ceballos did not feature in Zinedine Zidane's plans and was told to find a new club with Arsenal leading the chase for his signature.
Arsenal had hoped to include an option to buy Ceballos permanently in the deal after Real's board sanctioned the midfielder's loan exit.
That meant negotiations dragged on with Real reluctant to include the clause, before Ceballos asked the club not to sell him, reports MARCA.
It is claimed Real are monitoring the midfielder's progress in north London with the view to another crack at the Bernabeu.
Ceballos' relationship with Zidane has never been great and the Spaniard was ready to move on a year ago, if the Real boss stayed on.
Shortly after his return to the Bernabeu, he is believed to have told Ceballos to look for another club.
But the Real board aren't giving up hope of the pair reconciling and Ceballos being given another chance, as Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez have.
Ceballos' hopes of first-team action could also be boosted if Zidane's second tenure continues to go sour.
Real have managed just one win from their first three matches after a dismal end to last season.
While Real's board are not putting Zidane under any pressure yet, things could change if the situation gets worse.
