Dani Ceballos sends Martin Odegaard message after Arsenal transfer approach

Dani Ceballos knows a thing. or two about being out of favour at Real Madrid.

There are obvious parallels between Ceballos' past situation and the position Martin Odegaard now finds himself in as he eyes another loan move.

Ceballos was expected to kick-on at the Bernabeu only to find opportunities hard to come by and head out on loan in search of regular football.

Now in his second season on loan at Arsenal, the midfielder could be joined by former team-mate Odegaard, who has reportedly asked for another loan away from Real Madrid.

The Norwegian impressed at Real Sociedad last year but has barely been used by Zinedine Zidane this term, and Sky Sports claim the Gunners have made an approach to add another playmaker to their ranks.

Ceballos has weighed in on the situation - and suggested that Odegaard should look at his experiences and consider making the move.

"I can tell you about what happened to me at Madrid," Ceballos told EFE.

"I don’t know exactly what happens about Martin, but it is obvious that any player who wants to succeed at Madrid is going to grab the opportunity he has.

"I don’t know what Martin’s thoughts are but I know mine and I think that when you are young and you have goals and objectives, what you need is to play regularly and if you don’t, it’s like something is missing.

"I imagine that is what is happening to Martin."

Odegaard is set to have plenty of options with Arsenal facing competition for his signature after he asked for another loan move.

Just last month, Zidane insisted the 22-year-old would get playing time if he stayed at the club.

"Let him keep working, he is a beloved player and he will surely succeed here," Zidane said.

"He has not played much lately but the idea is to keep working hard, he will have minutes.

"He will provide insurance. This is a specific moment. In a race things happen to the players, but he is not discouraged."
